the issues at hand
Why am I running?
I believe that the basic purpose of public schools is to provide quality education to every child regardless of their background --including socio-economic, national, racial, or ethnic heritage or beliefs. In doing so, we as a nation help to develop well-rounded individuals, who are prepared with the skills and knowledge needed for successful adulthood and to be good citizens of our community, our state and nation, and stewards of the environment and place in the world. Public education should be accessible, equitable, and high quality.
The Miller Creek School District boasts a robust community with actively engaged parents, committed teachers, and administrators who go above and beyond to enhance the lives of students within and outside the school environment. This community spirit stands out as a powerful asset. The collective dedication to making the district a better place for every student is clear in the collective efforts of parents, teachers, and administrators. This shared commitment fosters a positive learning environment and contributes to the overall well-being of the students.
Regarding areas most needing improvement, challenges loom on the horizon, particularly a potentially increased student population coupled with budgetary constraints. Navigating these challenges requires a united front. We must come together and strategize on how to sustain support for students and teachers. My focus will be on innovative solutions that address the growing needs of the district, ensuring that despite any budget shortfalls, the core goals of providing quality education and support for every student remain intact.
